How to Do Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo, meaning “a really good time,” is named after New Orleans R&B artist Dr. John's 1974 album entitled “Desitively Bonnaroo.” The name for the now world famous music festival was chosen both to portray its literal meaning and to honor the rich Southern music that would come to inspire prospective bands and musicians featured at the festival. It officially opened in 2002 in Manchester, Tennessee, backed by Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment. READ MORE

Living Life in a Bubble: A Black Student's Experience at Rhodes

There are currently 1,785 students enrolled at Rhodes; of them, only 128 are black. For some, this statistic may be jarring: if diversity is a deciding factor in one's college selection, some may argue that Rhodes College has greatly improved. Though this may be true, Rhodes still has a long way to go.

The Chicago based duo mixes different genres of music to produce crowd-rocking songs and music mash-ups.  Their tunes are an Internet sensation, hence their name “The Hood Internet”.  The duo has performed at many festivals including Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.  Get ready to dance!

Debate: Planned Parenthood Should Be Federally Funded

On February 18th, the Republican-dominated House passed the Pence Amendment, also known as the Spending Limit Amendment (SLA), which proposes to slash all federal funding from Planned Parenthood and 102 closely-affiliated organizations.  These organizations provide vital services to women and men, including STD testing, pregnancy testing, birth control, and condoms.  If this bill passes in the Senate, and is signed into law, Planned Parenthood will lose the $300 million of annual federal funding.
