Okay, just to let you know, this isn’t going to be a normal article.
I’m not going to pretend I’m talking to a huge audience through a screen or through this digital paper.
I’m not going to rant about how society is totally unfair and how everything is terrible – because you know what? Yeah, life is hard. Get over it. Everyone has problems. Find a solution. You might not have all the answers, but you’re smart. You can get through this.
This article, is for you.
Look. If you were to see me in real life, you would probably have no idea who I am. And that’s okay.
But, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m pretty good at winging life, so maybe I can help you out.
Are you offended?
Don’t be.
For one: I’m just your average college kid- just as lost as the rest of the world
For two: I’m pretty sure no one really knows how to “wing life”
But you believed me anyway, right? Let’s talk about that. What is truth?
Ohh… I see now. You’re going to stop reading this because you feel uncomfortable? Because I just admitted how average I am and you don’t want to take any advice? Good- I’m not giving you advice.
I’m going to give you perspective.
Okay, enough with the formalities. Let’s talk about the voices. We are so bombarded with voices around us – voices of people we love, or people we don’t know too well, social media, books we read, even our own busy mind.
And then, you go to church one day and listen to your Pastor speak. Or, you turn on the radio or the tv or whatever, and you listen to some huge TV pastor.
Why?
Why do you trust them? Why did you trust me? You don’t know them- just like you don’t know me. The human race in general has a tendency to either trust what people say; or, to question Every. Single. Thing.
Neither are healthy, and yet we resort to both. Dear Christ follower: What are you doing? Who are you listening to? Who are you believing? Why? Stop taking every single thing that you hear fly out of the pastor’s mouth as golden truth.
Because it’s not.
I know, I know. You’re super busy. Doing this, doing that- no time for anything else.
SURPRISE!
You need to research what you believe. It affects you in every aspect of your life. So, do you fully believe the Bible? God’s precious words? Or do you pick at it – because, honestly- the Bible is the only thing you don’t need to question. Yeah I get it – you heard it all before. But people aren’t perfect.
Neither me.
Nor you.
So.
Immerse yourself in scripture. Even if you think you know it all…you don’t. Meditate on God’s word. And then ask your pastor what he believes. And if it’s a TV pastor, question what they are saying. Does it line up to God’s word? Or not? Because if it doesn’t and you’ve been listening to lies…
Uh-oh. Be careful, my fellow sibling in Christ. Satan is attacking us all the time. Through our circumstances. Through our beliefs. Through our thoughts.
So fight it.
