Have You Spent Time With God Today?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Regent chapter.

The other night, my roommate and I had a talk. It was late in the evening, and a few of our friends had just cleared out for the night. Before going to bed, we checked in to talk about each other’s day. We told some stories, had a few laughs, and then there was a pause in the conversation. With everything going on, both of us confessed that we hadn’t taken the time to spend with God one-on-one during the day. We were both involved in a Bible study with some friends of ours, so it was easy to forget to spend time studying the Bible and letting Him speak to us on our own.

Instead of giving each other a pat on the back, we decided to hold each other accountable. I grabbed a pen and scribbled the question,

“Have you spent time with the Lord today?”

After tearing the page from the notebook, I stuck it to the fridge with a magnet so that we would be reminded to ask ourselves and each other the question every day.

Is there something in your life that you need a reminder for? Whether it’s spending time with God, taking the time to focus on academics, or doing chores around the residence hall; find someone who can hold you accountable and who you can hold accountable in return. Stick a note on the fridge, near your desk, or even next to your bed to see when you first wake up in the morning.
