Five Apps You Need To Get Fit This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Regent chapter.

Are you tired of lethargically schlepping your way to class, or staying awake (and alive) with caffeine and the adrenaline rush of waking up late? Do you want to feel more alert and run down less often, but struggle to come up with the cash to pay for a fancy gym membership or expensive workout programs? Here are five cheap (or free) apps to help you get fit this semester!

1. Nike Training Club

This app is free, and with over 100 workouts, you’ll never have to struggle to find a new workout to try! You can filter the workouts by length, difficulty and equipment, so you’ll always be able to find one that fits your schedule and lifestyle.

2. Yoga Studio

This app has videos that guides you through an entire yoga routine, so you’ll be able to follow along (even if you’ve never been to a yoga class)!

3. Zombies, Run! This app combines a mystery – and a desperate township called Abel – with zombies to make you a post-apocalyptic hero. Even if you didn’t enjoy running before trying this app, the suspense between episodes will keep you going.

4. Nike Run Club

Personally, I use this app along with Zombies, Run! as a way to record my workouts and sync the data with Nike Training Club. The map feature will track your speed, route, heart rate and elevation for the course of your run, so you can compare your progress over time.

5. 7 Minute Workout

For the collegiette who struggles to find time to fit in a workout (basically all of us), 7 Minute Workout provides short exercise routines that can be completed individually or combined to create customized, longer sessions.
