Cup of Tia: Whitney Donut

By Tia Meyers
October 19, 2012 - 11:29am

After being at Quinnipiac for so many years I finally decided to try Whitney Donut Shop. Since I pass by it all the time, I was surprised it had taken me so long to stop in. I walked in and noticed a plethora of delicious looking donuts and bagels. I stepped up to the counter and ordered an apple krumble donut, toasted coconut donut and an iced apple caramel coffee. When the cashier rang up my order it was only $3. READ MORE

By Allison Feeney
October 18, 2012 - 11:00am

This past weekend was the weekend every freshman lives for, Parent’s Weekend. After a month and a half of working through the transition of college life, they love to see their families and get a dose of real food and catch up on life at home. For the rest of us, it is just another typical weekend, but for the sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma this is something special. This is the weekend in the fall that all the sister’s live for in an effort to raise more money than years past for their national philanthropy. The women rock in rocking chairs to raise money for the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which directly supports the National Kidney Foundation. When Phi Sigma Sigma was founded in 1913, kidney disease was the number one killer of women so that was their...

College Girls' Guide: Tips to Leading an Organized Life

By Sara LeDuc
October 15, 2012 - 11:08am

Okay, so this school year, I’ve made a conscious effort to be super organized. I make my bed every day, put everything in it’s place, keep all of my school work, folders, and notebooks in meticulous order, and generally keep my room as clean as a whistle. I wasn’t always this way, though. Just last year, my room more often than not looked like a complete disaster area, with a constantly disheveled bed, a flurry of paper and notebooks on my desk, and a perpetually overflowing garbage can. I was in serious need of an organizational intervention. READ MORE

College Girls' Guide: Guilty Pleasure Books

By Sara LeDuc
October 8, 2012 - 12:06pm

I am someone who loves to read...I’ve loved it since I was a child. In my opinion, it is something that if you’re lucky enough to love...you’re pretty lucky! Reading can take you to a different place, immerse you in a new world, culture, or setting, and can provide you with a much needed escape from reality.

College Girls' Guide: Top 5 Fall Recipes

By Sara LeDuc
October 3, 2012 - 9:49am

One of my all-time favorite things to do is bake. Cookies, cakes, pies, breads, brownies...they’re all great. I have replicated my moms best desserts, baked the same recipes again and again, tried tons of new ones (some of them successful, some of them not), and of course pinned an endless array of recipes on Pinterest to my “baking” board (clever name, huh??). There is something about putting on my monogrammed apron and the hum of the mixer that soothes my soul. But even more so, I love baking things that my friends and family enjoy. I love making someone their favorite cookies when they’re sad, being festive on Christmas, and making friends their favorite cakes on their birthdays. READ...

October 1, 2012 - 11:38am

Love to shop? I know I do...in a BIG way. My mom frequently tells me I have what she likes to call a, “spending problem,” and I can’t say I deny it. There is just something about buying new things that makes me...happy. However, there is no money tree growing in my dorm room wardrobe, and I’ve always gotten a thrill out of looking for deals. Here are a few of the
best deal-scoring venues I’ve found: READ MORE

By Allison Feeney
September 25, 2012 - 4:04pm

It’s the first Sunday of fall and what a better way to spend it than outside with some of my closest friends doing something for a great cause. I have always been active in community service and philanthropic work, but coming to college I have been introduced to new charities and causes that hit close to home for so many of the friends that I have made at Quinnipiac. This week’s find is all about a new cause that has hit home, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. READ MORE
