The Most Killer Throwback Playlist for a Pre with the Girls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

1. Say My Name – Destiny’s Child

The thing about Destiny’s Child is that there is literally never a wrong time to blast their music. Belting out the words to this song while getting ready with your girls will make you forget about any man that once did you wrong. I promise.

2. I’ll Be Missing You (feat. Faith Evans & 112) – Puff Daddy

If this song has never put you in your feels, you’re lying. That’s all.

3. All Star – Smash Mouth

This song is a banger for multiple reasons. The most popular reason is that it made a cameo in the first Shrek movie (A.K.A. the best film of all time). Another reason is that it throws you back to fifth grade in an instant. Who else head-banged to this at middle school dances?

4. Two Princes – Spin Doctors

This is one of those songs that you hear every time you go to Kelsey’s Restaurant to eat with your family, but never actually knew the name of the song… until now. You are welcome.

5. No Scrubs – TLC

This song is so empowering, it makes you think (for at least three minutes) that you would never want or need a man in your life, ever.

6. Forever – Chris Brown

Even though the artist is a bit of an a**, this is still one of the most feel-good songs in the history of mankind.

7. TiK ToK – Ke$ha

Don’t get me wrong, I’m living for the new Kesha era; however, I can’t help but find myself throwing it back to her old stuff as much as I possibly can. This song makes you feel like you are breaking all the rules that your parents made during your preteen years.

8. Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani

This is the song that taught preteen girls around the nation how to spell “banana,” and to swap out “sh*t” with “shhhh.”

9. Promiscuous (feat. Timbaland) – Nelly Furtado

Pro Tip: Get one of your girls to sing the male parts, while you take over Nelly’s parts, and there you go – a concert in your living room.

10. Hips Don’t Lie (feat. Wyclef Jean) – Shakira

This is one of those songs that men and women alike just lose their cool to. Everyone is moving; no one is safe. The music takes control of your hips and you can’t stop. Plus, the rap part is so fun to attempt to sing.

11. Hey Ya! – Outkast

This is yet another song that people lose their absolute sh*t to. When Andre 3000 tells you to shake it like a polaroid picture, YOU SHAKE IT LIKE A POLAROID PICTURE.

12. Wannabe – Spice Girls

You didn’t think I was going to forget this masterpiece, did you? This is definitely the song of choice to down the rest of your drink to before you head out to the club.

I am a 3rd year Queen's student studying Health and Philosophy. I decided to explore my creative writing abilities this year as a new hobby, and so far I am loving being a part of the Queen's Chapter of Her Campus.
