A Sushi Oasis in Armonk

It’s time for sushi lovers to face the facts, Purchase just isn’t fulfilling our needs. There are some options around the area, but none of them are good enough to keep us coming back. So, I took one for the team and ventured elsewhere- Armonk. Kira in Armonk is perfect if you’re on the hunt for fresh and fairly priced sushi and Japanese dishes.

Kira conveniently offers two locations, one in Armonk, NY and one in Greenwich, CT. Although the locations share the same name, they have slight differences.

The Armonk location has the wider selection with not only sushi and Japanese options, but Chinese favorites, too. The Greenwich location admits right on its menu that it hasn’t been updated since 2008!

To warm up from the frigid weather, the wonton soup from Armonk and the miso soup from Greenwich are two yummy options. For a main course option, Bento boxes may look expensive, $19-$25 (depending on the location), but it’s worth it with the amount of food in it. Soup, salad, teriyaki beef, chicken or fish, sushi, shrimp tempura, rice and a small appetizer-all in on meal! I have yet to finish the entire thing even when sharing with a friend!

Lunch is a great idea if you want all the flavors, but without paying an arm and a leg for it. There are kitchen specials in the Armonk location, which come with soup, appetizer, fried rice or noodles and a choice between 14 dishes. There are also bento boxes for lunch at $9-$10 dollars each.

Both locations have full bars, takeout, catering and a cheery wait staff. Armonk Kira has a free parking lot since it is located in a strip mall. The Greenwich location has street parking, but after 5pm it’s free!

Either location you go, you’ll walk out full and content. I recommended going to the Armonk location even if it is a little further away.
