The Twenty-Ten Interviews: Elysia Mann

Meet Elysia Mann, a sophomore at Penn State with a passion for fashion.  Here at University Park, Elysia is the fashion and web editor for Valley Magazine and lives on energy and creativity. With two internships under her belt from this past summer, she longs to be back in NYC with another one this summer. She’s a blogger who hopes to someday own her own vintage store, but for now she’s rocking the relaxed college-girl vibe.
 
If you could go on a date with a celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
 
Hands-down easy answer: Justin Timberlake. He’s smart, sexy, hilarious, amazing at everything he does and would definitely be a fun date! It would fulfill both my 6-year-old and 19-year-old dreams.
 
How did you first become interested in fashion?
 
I've always had an awareness of style, even when I was in elementary school. I created a sketchbook of my "designs" (called Leesh) when I was 9 years old. I didn't discover and develop my personal style or truly become fascinated with the fashion industry until high school, specifically the summer before senior year, when I started blogging.
 
What TV show would you most like to be a part of?
 
“The O.C.” Everyone looked and lived on the beach. Plus, they literally went to a different party every day. That’s the life! Seth Cohen totally would have chosen me over Summer and Ryan would have appreciated a nice girl like myself. Marissa caused too many problems.
 
If you were alone on a desert island, what are three things you’d want with you?
 
A “Survivor” winner to get me off the island! An iPad with WiFi. Lots and lots of York peppermint patties.
 
If you were a candy bar, what would you be?
 
A chocolate truffle. Put together and smooth on the outside, and fluffy and sweet on the inside!
 
If you could be any Toy Story character, who would you be?
Buzz Lightyear. He’s super badass, can fly (which is an actual useful power, compared to just being a cowboy…) and has the best line of the movie: “To infinity and beyond!”
 
In the movie version of your life, who would play you?
 
She’s not an actress, but Whitney Port. I’m in love with her and everything she does, even though the only reason she’s accomplished her dreams is because of “The Hills.”
 
What do you dislike most about boys?
 
They’re stupid! They don’t realize what goes through girls’ heads and cause way more problems than they even know. They’re also so immature and can’t appreciate good qualities of a girl past her hotness. I’m obviously severely generalizing, but it’s often true!
 
Describe your perfect man.
Tall. Glasses. Hilarious. Great style. Tech-y. Smart. Silly. Awesome taste in music.
 
What super power would you most like to have, not including invisibility and flying?
 
Mind reading. How cool would it be to always be inside someone’s head? It would lead to some awesome knowledge, which could end up giving me more powers!
