By Kelsey Lester
December 9, 2011 - 11:00am

“Like Crazy” is a movie about two college students, Anna (Felicity Jones) and Jacob (Anton Yelchin), who fall in love while in their senior year.  However, the plot is more complex than first portrayed and problems arise when Anna—a student from England—overstays her visa and is unable to reenter the country. Let me start this off by saying I am a huge Taylor Swift fan.  I have been to all of her tours, and each time they get better and more extravagant. READ MORE

Drake Concert Review

By Fiona Ciliotta
November 14, 2011 - 7:00am

Drake’s concert at the Bryce Jordan Center on Thursday night came right smack in the middle of one of the darkest weeks in Penn State history. Following the Sandusky scandal, the mood around Happy Valley has been far from happy. Aware of this overall sentiment, Drake came to the BJC prepared to show the audience a good time and reawaken the Penn State pride in our hearts. And, judging from all the loud cheers and screams the crowd gave, it is safe to say he succeeded.  READ MORE

Jerry Seinfeld Review

By Leah Polakoff
October 31, 2011 - 7:00am

When I mentioned to a friend that I was going to see Jerry Seinfeld perform, the only response I got was, “Isn’t Jerry Seinfeld for old people?” Whether he draws in an older crowd or not, I have been a huge Seinfeld fan for as long as I can remember. His comedy show was constantly on my television while I was growing up, and there isn’t one episode that I haven’t seen. Heck, my family even plays Seinfeld Scene It on game nights. I’m pretty sure my father would have disowned me if I hadn’t become a fan. READ MORE

Footloose: Movie Review

By Taylor Ferber
October 24, 2011 - 7:00am

It’s true, I’m a sucker for classic musicals. And dance movies…but who isn’t? Going into this remake, I’ll admit, I had high expectations. Gladly I can say the movie exceeded them all. With tons of fun, high energy and a classic love story combined, it was almost inevitable for the movie to be irresistible. When you find yourself uncontrollably moving to the beat and dancing around in the theater and not wanting the movie to end, you know it was a good one. I dare you to watch this film and resist the temptation to get up and dance. READ MORE

Zac Brown Band: Concert Review

By Leah Polakoff
October 17, 2011 - 8:38pm

I had my toes in my cowboy boots, ass in the hard folding chair, not a worry in the world, and my ticket in hand. Life sure was good on Friday Oct. 14, at the Zac Brown Band Concert. Having gone to a school in a town where people are known as the “duck farmers” with a “bring your tractor to school day,” I think it’s safe to say that I identify myself as a redneck. So when I found out that the Zac Brown Band was coming to perform at Penn State, I was ecstatic. READ MORE

I Have You to Thank: Gavin DeGraw Concert

By Rachel Lytle
October 11, 2011 - 8:03am

Oct. 9, 2011 marks the day that I, a huge fan, admirer and enthusiast since the ripe age 12, was able to not only hug the man that sings with perfect solidarity, but also told to hold on tight by the charming Gavin DeGraw himself.  This year’s Penn State Homecoming concert sponsored by the Student Programming Association (SPA) brought three performers to Recreation Hall Sunday evening for only $5 a ticket. Opening the performance was special guest Carolina Liar, followed by American Idol winner David Cook, and musician Gavin DeGraw. READ MORE

Billy Currington Concert

By Madeleine Brown
October 6, 2011 - 10:29pm

I love country music. I love dressing up in sundresses and cowboy boots and my camouflage PSU hat. My freshman year of high school, I compiled a list of my top 10 favorite country singers. So far, I have seen seven out of the 10. Last Monday, on our way home from Target, my friend and I heard on the radio that Billy Currington—who would become number seven—was coming to Johnstown, Pa. on the following Thursday. Without hesitating, my friend map quested it on her phone—only an hour and a half away. Yes, we traveled an hour and half to go to a two hour concert, but it was definitely worth it. READ MORE
