Matt Magid

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

Last week, Her Campus Penn State and Delta Upsilon fraternity partnered together to host the 2nd annual date auction benefiting the Centre County Women’s Resource Center. It was an incredibly successful event, raising over $800 for a cause we are so passionate about. We could not have done it without the help of Delta Upsilon’s Vice President of External Relations, Matt Magid!

Year: Sophomore

Major: Genetics and Developmental Biology with a Spanish Minor

Hometown: Plymouth Meeting, PA

HC: What is your favorite part about Penn State?

MM: My favorite part about Penn State has to be the school spirit.  I love how you can shout, “We Are!” almost anywhere and get a response.  I grew up a Penn Stater, so its great to finally be a student here.

HC: Can you please describe a little bit more about your position with your fraternity, Delta Upsilon?

MM: My position in the fraternity is the Vice President of External Relations.  I’m responsible for managing the community service, and philanthropy efforts of the fraternity, as well as coordinating social media, and alumni relations.

HC: What is your favorite part about Greek Life?

MM: One of my favorite parts about Greek Life is definitely the networking opportunities it provides.  I’ve met some of my closest friends through joining Delta Upsilon, and many others through Greek Life.  Its a great social outlet, as well as an outlet for philanthropy.  THON weekend is, without a doubt, my favorite weekend of the year.  Its also fun to host and participate in philanthropy events; I feel like these events really bring people together to help some great causes.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

MM: In 10 years I’m hopefully going to be a doctor.  I’d like to get into pediatric oncology, doing research and surgery.
