App Review: MyFitnessPal

I have been using this app for a few years now and I have absolutely nothing negative to say. If you’re anything like me, you want to lose weight, but you don’t want to have to devote your entire life to going to the gym and eliminating foods you love. The MyFitnessPal app is perfect for anyone trying to lose or maintain body weight; especially collegiette’s who, like me, are trying to juggle all the activities and assignments that life throws your way. It has been said that counting caloric intake each day makes you more likely to be successful with losing weight, and that is just what this app allows you to do.  So I decided to give it a shot, and it was a great decision.

When you download this app, the first step is customizing your diet profile to fit your unique weight loss goals. Here, you provide factors such as your current weight, amount of activity each day, your goal weight, how much weight you would like to lose each week or month, and how much you plan to exercise. What I really like about this feature is, when you’re finished filling out all of your information, MyFitnessPal calculates how many calories you should be eating each day to reach your goal.

I would be lying to say I wasn’t skeptical at first for the sheer fact that even thinking about recording every single item consumed in a day sounds like a daunting task. But this app immediately eliminated any doubts in my mind. You simply type in a key word, brand, or even a restaurant and the app accesses the food database that contains over 3,873,000 items.  If the meal is something you created, you can also add your own foods or recipes into your personal food database. You take exercise into account same way.  When you exercise, calories are added to the overall amount you can eat that day. Essentially, you earn calories since you are burning them.  Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

I have seen results and know other people who have as well.  It’s simple, takes no time at all, and is truly life changing. What’s the best part?  The app is free! So it really isn’t too good to be true after all. MyFitnessPal is not only collegiette tested and approved, but also highly recommended!
