16 Stages Of A PSU Football Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

With the Big Ten Championship game this weekend, it’s difficult not to reflect on the amazing season we’ve had this year. From our win against Ohio State to this latest win against Michigan State, this season has been full of highlights and every Penn Stater knows there is no place like Beaver Stadium during football season. With that in mind, here are the 16 stages of a PSU football game:

1. You arrive at your tailgate ready to eat your body weight in any homemade food you can find.

2. You begin your binge of buffalo chicken dip, beer and more buffalo chicken dip.

3. You win a few consecutive rounds of corn-toss and ride that high for a little while.

4. You get a group picture for Instagram and spend the next half hour trying to think of a witty caption.

5. You head into the game, grab your beloved pompom and make it just in time for kickoff.

6. You only make it five minutes into the first quarter before getting a chicken basket.

7. You somehow manage to not spend the rest of the game in line for the chicken basket and thank the football gods.

8. You get back to your seat just in time to see Saquon hurdle over someone and run 1,000 yards into the end zone.

9. You spend the next minute professing your love for Saquon.

10. You almost cry of joy when it’s halftime because that means you get to sit.

11. You spend the next 15 minutes getting hyped for the second half.

12. You see McSorley back on the field and wonder if he can see you all the way up in the bleachers.

13. Your love for him only grows when he leads the team to another touchdown.

14. You hear the opening notes of “Sweet Caroline” and think this day can’t get any better.

15. You watch the clock run out with PSU in the lead and realize it is in our own benefit.

16. You beam with pride as you watch the entire stadium sway along to the alma mater, knowing that Happy Valley will always be your second home.
