10 Ways to Tell That Your Crush is “Bae” Material

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PSU chapter.

1. He sends you thoughtful texts—I’m not an advocate for text messaging and certainly am not one for a non-stop text marathon, but it’s clear that he’s into you when he sends you a well-thought-out message describing how something reminded him of you. These messages are extremely different than the, “what are you up to?” or, “I can’t wait for the weekend!” texts of the world.

2. He remembers your favorite things—It’s one thing to believe that he is listening to what you’re saying, but for him to actively showcase this is another thing. By bringing up your passions in conversation, giving you a gift that is related to your interests, or suggesting activities that involve your favorite things are ways to tell that he’s not only hearing what you’re saying, but he is also listening to and remembering your interests because it is important to him.

3. He plans datesHe shows initiative rather than the classic, “I don’t care what we do—you choose.” Of course it’s okay for us girls to throw out ideas about hanging out, but it’s a telltale sign when he takes the reigns and plans something personal and fun for you guys to do.

4. He discusses his feelings—I’m so over guys that are totally shut-off. If he chooses to share his thoughts about life—family, fears, hardships, plans for the future, etc.—he is more than likely seriously interested in you. No one is going to dish out their life story to someone they are merely just trying to hook up with.

5. He is willing to skip going out to stay in with you—If he would rather stay home and watch movies with you instead of going out and getting drunk with his friends, he is “bae.”

6. Spending time with him makes you both lose track of timeBeing so immersed and excited by someone’s existence makes time fly by. During your time together, you aren’t constantly trying to think of things to do or talk about—it’s just easy. Basically, if you can spend 12+ hours with him and it is natural and fun and he feels the same, he is a keeper.

7. He wants you around constantlyHe’s so into you that he even wants you to accompany him while doing mundane tasks—studying, getting a haircut, going grocery shopping, etc.

8. He wants you to meet his friendsThis is crucial. Unless his friends are gigantic, embarrassing jerks, he probably isn’t doing you a favor by not introducing you to them. In fact, it’s a sign that he’s not quite sure about your status together.

9. He can’t help but smile and laugh at everything you do— You catch him just being straight-up giddy and smiley when you’re around. He thinks even your most awkward gestures and jokes are funny when all you’re doing is being you. Nothing is better than being with someone who is purely happy with your presence.

10. He gives you butterfliesNo matter how much time you spend together, when he leans in for a kiss, touches your leg or says your name, you get a serious case of the butterflies. This feeling should never go away with someone you are deeply interested in. This part is crucial for you. If you aren’t feeling the all-consuming jitters of being with someone, maybe that someone isn’t for you. It’s necessary to feel that nervous excitement when you’re with him.
