Dinner Discussion with a Pediatrician
Dr. Barbara Snyder, M.D.
April 27, 2012 6:00 pm
Rocky Private Dining Hall

Barbara Snyder, M.D, is Chief of Adolescent Medicine and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Snyder also serves as the Chair for the American Academy of Pediatrics’s Section on Adolescent Health and is a member of the Board of Directors for Princeton’s HiTOPS. Having graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1979 and completed a pediatrics residency at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center and SUNY-Upstate Medical Center, Dr. Snyder currently teaches medical students and residents about adolescent health and maintains an active clinical practice, with special interests in adolescent gynecology, obesity, and eating disorders. Dr. Snyder will be speaking about her journey through medicine, and on how the changing roles of women in medicine and pediatrics are affecting the field itself.

Random fun fact: Women comprise more than 57% of pediatricians and 70% of pediatric residents. Gender therefore is (and will increasingly become) a critical influence on the pediatrician workforce. Conversely, looking at the entire physician population, only 29.6% are women. (American Academy of Pediatrics).
