If you had to pick a sports star crush, who would it be?

There’s a really cute pitcher on the USA softball team, Jennie Finch. She’s athletic and she’s very well-spoken and a great captain.

What’s your favorite sport?

Rugby. It takes the physical aspects of football and integrates them with community and camaraderie. In football, you shake hands after the game and move on, but in rugby you actually get together with the opposing team and hang out. It breaks down the barriers between competition within sports and encourages a great sports community.

If you could have any cheerleaders cheering you on whom would you have?

The Chargers’ cheerleaders because they’re my favorite football team. They’ve been my favorite football team ever since I was born. I’ve always been a Charger football fan.

What sport could a girl play that would be most attractive to you?

Soccer, because my girlfriend’s a soccer player. (Aww.) And soccer players are usually in great shape and very committed to their team because it’s very a team oriented sport.

If you could compare any sport to dating, which sport would it be?

Baseball. Just like dating, it’s 90 percent mental and only the ones that are the most committed and put in the most effort are the ones that ultimately succeed.

When you were younger, who did you want to be when you grow up in the sports world?

I always wanted to be the starting catcher for the Padres, Ben Davis. Mainly because he was an amazing defensive player but he wasn’t that great at hitting, so I could relate to him.

What is your favorite UP sport to watch?

Baseball, because you get to chow on sunflower seeds and get to enjoy the greatest sport. And you can take a girl with you who doesn’t like baseball and teach her all about the game, that’s always fun.

What was your most embarrassing sports experience?

I was playing baseball one time and I was the catcher. I went to throw the ball to second base and my foot slipped on the plate and I fell on my back. Everyone was laughing and my girlfriend was there.

If you were a sports fan cheering on the UP women, what would you say?

Gooooo pilots!
