Goodbye Rain, Hello Sunshine!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Portland chapter.

Due to the bipolar weather that Portland graces us with people always make the most of it when it’s sunny! Here are some suggestions of how to embrace the sunny weather.

1. Ditch the library, and work outside.

No one wants to be stuck in the library on a nice sunny day, so grab your blankets and towel and take in the sun outside while being productive. The Pilot House and Commons also have some prime outside sitting areas where you can enjoy the weather as well.  It’s a win, win situation, enjoy the weather and get stuff done.

2. Play Frisbee or other outside activities.

Whenever the sun peaks out, you will always see people outside tossing the Frisbee to each other or just chilling in the Academic Quad, West Quad, or East Quad.  I definitely recommend hanging out with your friends out in the open, to chat or play some Frisbee.

3. Whip out your Spring and Summer apparel.

Whenever the sun peaks out, ditch your rain boots for sandals and fun spring/summer footwear.  Everywhere you look on campus, there is someone wearing a laid-back dress or people rocking a pair of shorts.

4. Go on a walk to St. Johns.

Take some time to enjoy the sun by enjoying a short trip to St. Johns.  Take a stop at Cathedral Park or if it happens to be a Saturday morning visit the local Farmers Market.

5. Soak up as much of the sun before it leaves again.

The sun is our friend here in Portland.  Take in the nice weather whenever it comes during the rainy months, because you never know when it’s going to hide away
