20 Things to do Before You Turn 20

In my professional opinion, birthdays are a nice do-over, finish line, and moment of reflection. And in the honor of the fastly approaching 20th birthday of someone who is very near and dear to me, here is my list of 20 things you should do before YOU turn 20.  

 

1. Find a hobby you love…

2. Develop one party trick…

Mine is making the slap bass sound from Seinfeld. I don’t get invited to a lot of parties…

3. Get in control of your finances… 

4. Know one recipe by heart…

How cool would it be to be that friend who cooks for everyone? ~Impressive~

 

5. Be able to name your favorite movies…

6.  Have a good interview outfit…

If your interview outfit in any way includes leggings then it’s not an interview outfit. 

 

7. Have a good LinkedIn/Resume…

8. Volunteer…

It’s cool to care you guys. 

 

9. Keep physical photos of your favorite memories…

10. Know how to replace a flat tire…

Easier said than done, but so important if you really want to call yourself an adult. 

 

11. Own a toolset…

12. Have lived with a roommate…

Very few things compare to the test of sharing your living space with another person. 

 

13. Send thank-you notes…

14. Go on a road trip…

“Life is about the journey, not the destination” -me. 

 

15. Pull an all-nighter…

16. Get rid of (or fix) your ripped clothes/underwear…

19 year old you- ripped tights… 20 year old you- slightly less ripped tights.

17. Have a somewhat put together 5 year plan…

18. Do a friend cleanse…

Have toxic friendships? Delete people off of Facebook, delete them from your contacts, DELETE THEM FROM YOUR LIFE.

 

19. Go to a concert…

20. Have at least one memorable birthday!
