Class of 2018 SAEM Student, Olivia Gilpin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Point Park chapter.

Olivia Gilpin is a sophmore SAEM major all the way from Liberty, Kentucky. Find out brought her to Point Park below!

HC: Why did you choose Point Park?

OG: I chose Point Park for a number of reasons. One of those reasons was because a close family friend suggested it. If she had not told me about Point Park, I wouldn’t have even known that it existed! Another of those reasons is that the moment I stepped on campus I felt right at home. Even though I grew up in a small southern town, I always knew small town life wasn’t for me.

HC: Why did you choose SAEM?

OG: I chose SAEM because of my love of sports, and because I want to work in the sports industry some day.

HC: What is your dream job?

OG: My dream job would be to work for the Pittsburgh Penguins in some way.  The Penguins are one of the major reasons that I came to Pittsburgh for school.

HC: If you had one wish, what would you wish for?

OG: I would wish for peace among my family members. It’s been a very trying year for my family so, I would wish for every one to put aside their differences and to be there for each other.

HC: Best advice you’ve ever been given?

OG: The best advice I have ever been given was from my mom. She told me to follow my dreams, and that even though those dreams might seem unattainable there is always a path that will lead you to those dreams if you work hard enough.
