Quick Morning Routine Hacks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you love your sleep. I always try to find ways that I can stay in my comfy bed for as long as possible every morning. So you can rest assured that I have tried every trick in the book to save time in the morning; here’s a list of my favorite morning routine hacks!

1. Shower at Night

If you’re all showered and clean before you go to bed, that’s one less thing you have to deal with in the morning. If you’re worried about your hair looking messy, straighten it before you go to sleep or use a satin pillowcase to avoid bed-head!

2. Pick Your Outfit Before Bed

Lay out what you want to wear the next day before going to sleep! That way, when that alarm goes off, you can skip the daunting task of deciding what to wear. Bonus tip: check the weather the night before so you know how warm (or cold) it’s going to be.

3. Pack Lunch the Night Before

It’s way too easy to just jump up and rush out the door with no regard for what you’re going to eat; however, this isn’t really the healthiest way to go about your day. Before going to bed, you can put together whatever you want to eat and have it in the fridge. In the morning, you can easily pull it out of the fridge and head out.

4. Buy On-The-Go Breakfast Foods

We all know the saying, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” but who can think about making breakfast when class starts in 20 minutes but you’re still in your pajamas? There are lots of bars, yogurts and cereals that come in small and easy-to-carry packages that you can munch on while you walk to class.

5. Pack Your Bag Beforehand

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve missed my bus because I was running around my apartment looking for the notebooks I need for classes that day. This can easily be avoided just by putting everything you need for the next day in your bag before you go to bed. Leave it right by the door so you can grab it and run out the door!

6. Use a Coffee Timer

Most new coffee makers can allow you to set a timer for when you want it to start. Set it so that it will brew you some fresh coffee at the same time you set your alarm and wake up to the smell of warm coffee! If you also invest in a travel mug, you can take this liquid of the gods on the go.

With these quick tips, you can get those few extra minutes of blissful rest and still have everything you need when it’s time to walk out the door!
