Summer is Almost Here, What Now?

By Emily Baric Tarnow

As the air gets sweeter, the sun gets hotter, your skin gets tanner, and the nights get longer, how could you be expected to focus on finals? I for one spend more time at the library making summer bucket lists and researching places I want to visit this break than I do studying. I think we can all agree we’re more focused on just getting past these last few weeks of school so we can finally be unrestricted and enjoy the summer. Whether you have an internship, summer job, or you’re taking classes, everyone has to have a summer getaway. Even if it’s only a state away, taking advantage of the free time the summer offers is important. But how do you choose where you want to go? READ MORE

Contiki: The Opportunity of a Lifetime

By Emily Baric Tarnow
April 27, 2013 - 1:39pm

What is the point of college? As a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh I find myself pondering this question more often than I’d personally like to admit. Well there’s the obvious point: In hopes of attending a university you’ll eventually graduate with a degree in a field that will allow you to pursue a successful career. So basically, after spending thousands of dollars on tuition, hundreds of hours in the library, and countless periods of time stressing over information you’ll most likely never use, what do you actually end up with? When you walk across that stage at graduation, what do you receive? I’ll tell ya: a piece of paper, stating your accomplishments. READ MORE

Frisky Fridays: The Right to Toys, Handcuffs, and the Pursuit of All Things Frisky

By Nahja Martin

A few weeks ago, Her Campus Pitt held a small, quaint gathering for a sex toy party. We made margaritas, had a few glasses of wine, and let the dildos and vibrators fly. We giggled like little girls, raised our eyebrows, and stretched our eyes wide at the expansive range of “products” that the consultant laid out in front of us. Even though we behaved like children, I know in more than a few cases, some girls were thinking about how to incorporate all the toys, lube, different gels, and handcuffs into their everyday sex lives. Frisky Fridays: Biting

By Nahja Martin
February 22, 2013 - 9:00pm

Biting. Whenever my roommate and I talk about the subject, we both grin like Cheshire Cat, with a huge smile stretched across our faces.  It’s a topic that many people don’t really discuss when they are talking about their turn-ons and turn-offs. It's something that can be the sole cause of sending someone over the edge, or have them running for the door. It can be sexy, erotic, and extremely passionate, but only when done right; much like many other forms of foreplay. For many of my girl friends and I, biting is something we wished more people would be open to. We don’t mean biting to draw blood. We aren’t trying to go True Blood on you. READ MORE

Dave and Andy's Scoop of Advice: Facial Hair

By Dave Rogers Jr., Andy McCormick
February 20, 2013 - 4:00pm

Dear Dave and Andy, I have a question for you guys, it isn’t that big of a deal or too tricky, but here it goes.  My boyfriend has this odd determination to randomly grow facial hair.  I love him and all, but I can’t stand when he has facial hair.  I just think he looks way better when he is clean-shaven.  Plus it itches when he kisses me or our faces are touching in any way.  I don’t know how to tell him or even understand why he wants to grow facial hair so badly.  Do all guys desire to have some ‘manly’ beard or is he just a special case? Sincerely, “I’m Dating a Furball” READ MORE

Frisky Fridays: Taking That Leap of Faith...For Yourself

By Nahja Martin
February 15, 2013 - 9:00pm

On Wednesday I asked a guy to be my Valentine. It doesn’t matter who the guy was or what he said in response for the point of this post. For me it was the first time I had EVER been forward enough to ask someone that question, and to basically go on a date with me. And yes, I did ask it in a joking manner at first but then I just decided to go with it and throw caution to the wind. A few weeks ago I came up with my own personal mantra: stop being afraid and just start doing. It may not be original or even realistic, but in that moment I realized how much I have been holding back. It reminded me of a quote from an old Hilary Duff movie, A Cinderella Story: "Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." ...

Frisky Fridays: From Predictable to Passionate

By Nahja Martin
February 8, 2013 - 9:30pm

When’s the last time you’ve ever experienced passion? I’m not talking about a kiss out at a bar, or even the hook-up that proceeded after that. I’m talking real, hot, Ryan Reynolds sexy, passion. The kind of scene that makes you embarrassed to watch with your younger siblings, or sometimes, even with your best friend, but secretly gives you tingles that linger on your spine. When’s the last time that you were pushed up against a wall, your breath caught in your throat, and just deliciously devoured from head to toe? If you have even the slightest bit of a similar love life to mine, then this happens a little less often than you might like.   READ MORE
