A Guide to Your Gilmore Girls Viewing Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

The Gilmore Girls revival is finally upon us! If you are anything like me, you have been following the hype from the beginning anxiously anticipating Thanksgiving break not only for the turkey and family fun, but because the Gilmore Girls WILL BE BACK! And because my mother and I are basically the Gilmore Girls (single mom, only child daughter, love binge watching shows on Netflix, while eating lots and lots of pizza and Chinese food) we have been planning the ultimate Gilmore Girls revival party!

The Gilmore girls have always known how to party! From Rory and Lorelei’s birthday parties (never forget the “World’s Largest Pizza”) to the Bon Voyage party that comprised the series finale, was a heartfelt sendoff for Rory to go out into the world and showed how much the girls were loved by everyone in their town. *tear* Plus all the epic themed town festivals and events makes Stars Hollow a place that is always lit and its citizens experts in having a good time. You are probably thinking, “How can I possibly reach the Gilmore Girls level for partying?” The first step is simple, just think, “What would the Gilmore girls do?”

The answer: lots and lots of food. For the Gilmores, this would most definitely be the number one most important aspect to their viewing party. After all, Lorelei and Rory are nothing less than champion eaters!

Gilmore girl related foods range from PopTarts and Mallomars to pizza and Chinese food. Really anything is a Gilmore food as long as it isn’t healthy at all!

Here are some musts:

1. Chinese food and pizza

You can even get a little crazy and order Greek food, Italian food or hot dogs like the trailer shows the girls doing in the revival.

2. Burgers and fries

Pretend they are from Luke’s and put them in bags like you are pulling a Gilmore girl and sneaking them into the movie theater or town meeting. You can even use the fries as weapons and throw them at annoying watchers who talk through the best parts of the show!

3. Platter of Pop-Tarts

Put an apple in the middle and you will have the best appetizer in town!

4. Dessert sushi

The girls become obsessed with dessert sushi when Lorelei throws Rory the Asian-themed party. You can learn to make it here. Don’t forget that Rory likes the “Tootsie-Roll marshmallow Twizzler” roll better than the “Butterfinger Junior Mint chocolate-chip JuJuBe” roll and both of the Gilmore’s identify the “Oreo red hot” sashimi as their fav. This food option also covers the copious amounts of junk food that the Gilmores are known to eat.

5. Coffee!

This is an absolute must for the girls, so it has to be an absolute must you! Print out Luke’s diner logos and put them on your mugs so you feel like you are at Luke’s.

Now eat and eat!

Next are the Gilmore movie night rules that can be utilized for any viewing party. They are told best by Lorelei here.

Now that you know the Gilmore musts for any revival party, oy with the poodles already!
