This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

What are you involved in on campus?

I am a member of tri delt, I am a peer facilitator for Emerging Leaders, I’m in Psi Chi, which is the National Honors Psychology Society. I also work in the infant communication lab for Autism research, and I’m completing an Honors Thesis.

Which of your activities are you most passionate about?

I am probably most passionate about raising money for Tri Delta’s national philanthropy, which is St. Jude’s. I’ve run a half-marathon as a St. Jude Hero, and independently through that, I’ve raised $5,000. No family pays for anything in this hospital, whether it’s travel expenses, housing, or treatment, and it’s amazing to see that I was able to make an actual impact on people’s lives at such a young age.

What do you study?

I am a senior psychology major and German minor. I studied abroad in Berlin last summer.

Any particular reason for your specialty in autism research?

I want to go to graduate school for occupational therapy with a focus on infant development.

Wow, very cool. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’d like to be an occupational therapist working in an infant developmental diagnostic program.

Do you think you’ll go back to Berlin?

Yeah, my goal is to make it back when I’m older. I feel like I left a part of myself there.

Who is a big inspiration for you?

My oldest brother. He was able to not only complete college and get a great job, but he also served and toured in the military in the middle of his college career.

What do you want to pass on to the readers?

Live it up; it goes fast.

Hi, I'm Sarita. I am a senior Communications major at the University of Pittsburgh. My writing topic interests include job acquisition, school survival tips, Latin culture, feminism, fashion, nutrition, and current events.
