Her Campus: So, Cecilia, what are you passionate about?
Cecilia Oliveros: I’m definitely passionate about the environment and animal rights. I’ve always cared about animals, and earlier this year I went to a walk for farm animals. I knew how horrible the conditions were, but now I realize I really have to do something; I really have to make a change.
I read this book “No Impact Man” about this guy who went a year without making a carbon footprint and… I guess I try to make life changes like being vegetarian… or I carry around a napkin with me!
HC: What is your major?
CO: Currently undecided, but headed towards Environmental Studies.
HC: Hometown?
CO: Stewartstown, Pa
HC: Relationship status?
CO: SINGLE!!
HC: Good news! Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
CO: Hopefully out into graduate school, but at this rate, I might be in undergrad still. Definitely in a city somewhere.
HC: Do you have a celeb crush?
CO: Well, Emma Watson. She’s classy but in a cute way. It’s not in your face, but it’s like… Damn.
HC: I agree! I love her. Finally, what organizations are you involved in on campus?
CO: Free the Planet, Panthers for Animal Welfare (PAW), Animal Lovers Club, Feel Good, and Rainbow Alliance.
HC: Wow, you are really involved! What’s your favorite club you are involved in?
CO: FeelGood because it has such positive vibes and I love all the people. Plus, the knowledge that you’re doing so much good while having a blast is just the best!
HC: Why did you choose Pitt?
CO: I chose Pitt because I wanted to be in the city and Pitt was a smart choice as a science major. Also I probably heard Pitt is it at least every other day from my brother so there seemed to be no other choice haha.
HC: What do you look for in a partner?
CO: I look for someone who first of all is a decent human being and after that someone who has a true passion for something. It’s also fairly essential that they care about animals and the environment. I want someone who expects more from me and pushes me to be the best I can be while loving and accepting me. I would like someone who likes the outdoors and likes to be active as well. I think those are the main things I got [laughs].
