Appreciate the Breathtaking Murals of Pittsburgh

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

It’s easy to walk down Atwood and be preoccupied with thoughts of Sorrento’s ranch. But, have you ever stopped to appreciate the artwork on the side of the building? There are numerous murals throughout the city of Pittsburgh—in Downtown, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, and Oakland—that bring the city to life and celebrate the history of Pittsburgh. The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation, Moving the Lives of Kids Mural Project, and local community representatives created this mural in 2010. So next time you’re walking back from class, look up from your phone and take a moment to appreciate the artistic and cultural city we live in.
