5 Holiday Gifts That Won’t Blow Your Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

With holiday season in full swing, your excitement for the holidays goes up and the money in your bank account goes down. We all want to buy the perfect gifts for family and friends, but being on a college budget can be difficult. Whether you are buying a secret Santa gift, a stocking stuffer, or a gift for your crazy aunt, hopefully this gift guide will give you the guidance you need!

1. Scarves

This gift is relatively inexpensive and you can find them at any store. There are so many prints and colors so you can find one for everyone on your list (including the guys as well).

2.  Picture frames

College are the years where you make the memories you will have for the rest of your life, so what’s better than framing the pictures? You can gift them to friends, family, or even keep one for yourself. Personalize your gift with these monogram picture frames for only 30 dollars!

3. Mugs

Mugs are a gift that can be used around the holiday season, but also throughout the entire year. A good idea is to put a gift card or some candy inside the mug for an extra surprise!

4. Hand towels

I know hand towels may seem like an odd gift, but they are perfect for your apartment kitchen or for your mom. This snowman hand towel is only 4 dollars, so you can buy more than one with different patterns for the seasons.

5.  Makeup bags

With all of the money you will probably spend at Sephora this holiday season with the countless gift sets, you need somewhere to store all of your purchases. Makeup bags are cheap and there are plenty of cute designs and patterns to pick from!

I hope these ideas are easy on your wallet and take the worry off of finding the perfect gift!

She recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where she studied Nonfiction Writing and Communication. When Katie isn’t watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, you can find her trying new restaurants, obsessing over her long list of shows (The O.C., Scandal and Gilmore Girls are top picks) or setting out to find the perfect donut.
