Fitness Motivation for the New Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Thinking about how to stay on top of New Year’s resolutions or just starting early on that spring break body? Here are some easy tips to stay motivated and be a healthier happier you!

1. Follow Healthy Workout Instagram Accounts for Inspiration

When you are scrolling through Instagram you can be inspired to get moving and work out. Getting inspiration from accounts that specialize in staying in shape and eating healthy is a great way to remind yourself that instead of sitting on your couch scrolling through insta, you can be achieving your goals!

2. Use Visual Reminders to Set Goals

Write positive notes to yourself or leave sticky notes for yourself reminding you to stay active. One way to be healthier is to love yourself, and sticky notes are a way to remind you that you are beautiful and deserve to have a spectacular day.

3. Call a Friend for a Movie Night Workout

Invite a friend over and do a workout together. A great way to stay motivated is to workout with a friend where you can push each other to meet your goals. It is also a way to get advice on your form when working out your friends can correct mistakes you didn’t realize you were making.

4. Be Open to All Available Types of Classes and Resources

The gym at PhilaU has a bunch of great workout classes during the week. From power workouts to sunrise yoga, you will be able to find a class that fits you and your schedule. A schedule is available at the front desk in the gym or on the PhilaU website.

5. Sleep in Your Gym Clothes

Sleeping in your gym clothes allows you to just roll out of bed in the morning and into a workout. This eliminates the extra time of getting ready and gives you those crucial extra minutes of sleep! PhilaU also has a great sunrise yoga class available if you are interested in a great way of awakening your body for a productive day.

6. Follow Youtube Workout Accounts

You can do workout routines in your own apartment or dorm if you don’t feel like going to the gym that day. A lot of the time I don’t work out because I don’t feel like leaving my room, but this eliminates the process of looking gym ready. I can just turn on my laptop and get just as good of a workout. This also allows you to go at your own pace and take all the time you need to complete a workout. A great fitness account to check out is Blogilate, although there are tons more for inspiration!
