What did you do over Spring Break? If you’re like me, chances are you finished binge watching that show you were obsessed with on Netflix. I have been asking friends what shows they think I should start next, while giving them recommendations of my own. Sometimes my friends get me so excited to watch a show and once I start it, I’m disappointed. If you’re looking for something new to watch on Netflix, here are five shows that are totally worth the hype!

1. Gossip Girl

Ever wonder how it would feel to be apart of Manhattan’s elite? This show follows the lives of Manhattan’s it girls Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf and their friends. This is a perfect show to start with your besties during a girls’ night in, or during that hour break you have between classes! While this show has been off the air since 2012, the six season series will keep you on the edge of your seat needing to know what will happen next.

2. Reign

Whether you’re a history buff or just a fan of dramas, you will get hooked on this series. Mary Stuart, the Queen of Scotland, travels to France to take to part in a political engagement with the eldest prince of France. While Mary is aware of her duty to her country, she struggles when her heart leads her in another direction, or in this case the brother of her fiance. You do not need to have knowledge on Mary, Queen of Scots to follow the plot and enjoy the show. Also, if you are into fashion, you will love the dresses Mary and her friends wear!

3. Young and Hungry

As someone who loved Hannah Montana when I was little, I was drawn to this show because Emily Osment was casted as the lead role. She plays a fiesty food blogger named Gabby who is passionate about cooking and desperately in need of a job. The show follows Gabby as she tries to get the position of personal chef for a wealthy tech tycoon named Josh. Once you get a taste of this lighthearted sitcom, you will keep wanting more!

4. The Vampire Diaries

Before watching this series, I assumed it would be a cheesy I reluctantly started watching it and oh was I in for a pleasant surprise! This supernatural drama based off a book series follows Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl who just lost both parents in a terrible accident. Her world becomes even more complicated as two brothers with a lot of baggage move into town. Elena is swept up into a world of danger, mythical creatures, doppelgangers and love. When I started watching this show, I made it through the first three seasons in a little over a month, so make sure you have ample free time when starting this!

5. Stranger Things

I initially held off from starting this show because I kept hearing people constantly talk about it. My roommate and I started watching it around Halloween, and I was hooked! This thrilling Netflix original takes place in a small town in Indiana in 1983. A 12 year old boy named Will goes missing and a shocking investigation takes place. At the same time, a mysterious young girl arrives in town. Before watching this show, pop some popcorn, grab your roommate and prepare for the many jump scares you will encounter during the episodes together!
