Spring Break is almost here, and for plenty of us, that means we’ll be flying away for the week to see friends, to see family, to do volunteer work, or in my case, to study about human rights and law.  Packing can add stress to this already stress-filled week.

Here are some tips for flying, and what to pack for Spring Break:

  1. Pack travel-sized beauty and skincare items.  Many brands, both drugstore and luxury, offer your favorite beauty and skin care items in smaller (and less-expensive) sizes. Why give yourself more weight to carry around with you when you don’t need to? My favorites that you can buy in travel size include: The Body Shop Body Butter (2 for $10), Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover ($9.50 at Ulta), and Redken Extreme Anti-Snap Leave-In Treatment ($6.50 at Ulta).
  2. Dress in layers.  Even if your destination is a warm location (i.e. Miami, or California), planes can still get cold, and nights in March can still get chilly.
  3. If you drink on the flight, keep the alcohol light.  You don’t want your first full day at your destination to be with a hangover.
  4. Take advantage of the in-flight entertainment.  You don’t need to bring your laptop to watch Netflix when your plane will likely have a lot of options on the screen right in front of you.
  5. Pack your favorite perfume.  I’m a firm believer that smelling good contributes to confidence. If you feel good and confident, it will show on all of your Snapchats/Instagram pictures of your Spring Break.
  6. Don’t bring a hairdryer.  It’ll just take up more space in your luggage, and you don’t want to pay more for a second bag to bring on the plane.  Instead, I suggest spraying travel size Redken Beach Envy Wave Aid ($10 at Ulta) on your wet hair when you get out of the shower and letting it air dry.  This will give your hair a sexy, no frills look that reminds you of the summertime, even if your Spring Break destination is in the snowy Alps.

Have fun if you’re going someplace for Spring Break!
