HC: What is your major and why did you choose it?

SG: “This is the first year that I decided on psychology and I was a nursing major before, but I chose psych because I am interested in in helping people, specifically the elderly, and I also want to learn how the mind works.”

HC: You were previously a nursing major, what about psychology made you switch?

SG: “I wanted to switch to psychology because I found out about a gerontologist through a psychology class I took freshman year and it made me want to be one. I also help my grandma a lot when I go home, so I liked taking care of her.”

HC: Since you were an aid at a nursing home before, did that influence your career decisions for your future?

SG: “Yes. It did influence me because [I had] to narrow down what kind of nursing or psychology I wanted to focus on, and gerontology (the study of elderly) is an interest of mine. My Grandmom lives with me at home, and she really appreciates that me and my sister help her out with certain things so it made me like elderly people, but my nursing home solidified it.”

HC: Do you plan on staying at Berks campus, moving to State College, or transferring entirely to a different school to finish out your degree?

SG: “I definitely don’t want to stay here at Berks, but I also don’t want to go to main. If I can transfer anywhere it would be to Temple. I want to live in a city and at a bigger school, just not as big as main campus.”
