What is PRSSA:

PRSSA is an international, professional-collegiate organization dedicated to training PR-inclined students from over three hundred Chapters in colleges located across the United States, Argentina, Colombia, and Peru.

What is PRSSA’s mission here at Berks:

The purpose of our Chapter is to give students of all majors practical experience in public relations. We hope to achieve this by providing public relations opportunities on-campus, campaigns and events, and off-campus, networking and internships. As a long term goal we want to create a student-run public relations firm.9. If someone were to join your club, what should they expect/what will you be doing at meetings and during the year (does PRSSA host any events or attend any events):

If someone were to join PRSSA, what should they expect/what will you be doing at meetings and during the year:

At general meetings we often host professionals in the public relations field so that they can share some of their experiences and insights. We also discuss upcoming campaigns and events that are Chapter is creating. New members can expect to build a solid professional-collegiate network of contacts that they can carry into the professional world.

Top benefits/reasons someone should join PRSSA:

Firstly, PRSSA is a great resume builder as we are a nationally recognized professional-collegiate organization. Secondly, members gain access to dozens of internships and academic scholarships through PRSSA National. Thirdly, members get the chance to network with and learn from public relations professionals who are currently working in the field.

Upcoming meetings:

Our next General Meeting will be held in Franco 157 on October 27 at common hour. We will be presenting what we learned from the PRSSA National Conference, that was just held in Washington D.C., and we will also be discussing the immediate future of the Chapter.

There’s another general meeting on Monday, November 17. It will be held in Franco 157 starting at 1 p.m.

Anything else potential club-joiners should know:

Public relations is a part of every profession, it is the art of building and maintaining relationships. One does not have to be a CAS student to benefit from PRSSA.
