What I thought?: I was intrigued by the book. The novel is about a girl, Lexi, who gets sent to gay conversion camp by her mom. I never knew a book like this existed, especially in Young Adult. It was somewhat predictable but the things they did to the kids who were there was bizarre. It was sort of like they tried to break them down as much as they could so they would be receptive to their message that being gay is bad and reform themselves. Most if not all of the kids at the camp were minors, so in most cases, they were forced there by someone. That’s not a great way to start “conversion”. Overall it was an okay book. It lacked something because the plot was basic. You knew that Lexi was either going to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend, and you knew which one in the first couple of chapters. Conversion therapy was basically to tear them down and try force them to feel something that they don’t, or to put the blame on someone else.
