Blackout in Eagle Rock and Oxy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oxy chapter.

Last night (Wednesday, November 30) I woke up at 11:48 pm and looked out my window just in time to see several power surges before Eagle Rock and Oxy went completely dark. Though it may seem unorthodox to have a photo that is almost completely black as the photoblog, I thought that in this situation it made sense. As you all know, Oxy lost power last night because of the Santa Ana winds. Throughout the night I vacillated between being completely terrified (the smoke from the fire caused me to have an asthma attack – and I HATE the dark) and incredibly fascinated. My position in Stewie allowed me to fulfill my curiosity and I spent much of the night looking out the window. The lights closest to you in photo are the lights from the top floor of the library, which went on and off all night. Although I enjoyed the excitement of the night (and the cancelation of classes the next day!) I was more than excited when the power came back on.
