Giving Back Over Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oxford Emory chapter.

Finals are finally here! Everyone is studying as hard as possible and trying to finish the semester strong. Luckily, once we finish, we get to go home and enjoy the break, along with possibly some holidays. We will all have a chance to relax before we start a new semester. Most people are fortunate enough to have a family to go home to, a home, and will have plenty to eat through the holidays. This time of year is extremely important to give back. Here are a few things you or you and your family can do over break to give back: 1. Volunteer at a food shelter

2. Adopt a family for Christmas

3. Donate old clothes or toys

4. Sign up for a Holiday 5k

5. Donate blood

6. Bring dog toys, blankets, or other pet items to an animal shelter

7. Visit a nursing home

8. Serve food to the homeless

If you don’t have the means to donate, there are plenty of ways to give back that don’t involve donating. For example, any volunteer work or just visiting a nursing home is a great way to give back this holiday season. However much stress you are under during the rest of finals, just remember that it is always important to continue to help the community!

Writing for Her Campus, alongside being the Senior Editor of the Emory chapter, strengthens my creativity and ability to teach others. It spills into my professional life by emphasizing my capabilities to motivate, inspire, and learn from my peers.
