A few years ago, my family got all revved up about Black Friday. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner at a fancy restaurant and then headed to Wal-Mart to cash in on the best deals of the season. It was madness inside. I saw people fighting over a video game in the food aisle. In the end, my family and I walked away with some new pillows, an inflatable travel mattress and some tupperware.
This year, we didn’t do much Black Friday shopping. My mom, sisters and I went clothes shopping later in the day, rather than going out at 6 a.m.
Instead of intense Black Friday shopping, I went nuts this year with Cyber Monday shopping. Just looking at all the deals on Amazon made my bank account weep. Even worse, I had already ordered a good chunk of stuff on the Saturday and Sunday before the actual Cyber Monday sales started. I was ordering a different package every day of the week thanks to my Amazon Prime account.
Cyber Monday has become one of the most insane times of the season for holiday shopping, the best part being that the shopper doesn’t even have to leave home. However, Cyber Monday comes with its own downsides, such as increases in credit card theft and the inability to try on the clothing you’re buying. Despite this, the positives in Cyber Monday definitely outweigh the Black Friday positives.
