Salena Johnson, ’12

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Salena combines all the qualities you find pleasant in men and women without any of the confusing surgery.  Even in jeans and a hoodie, her figure can’t hide. She has the down-to-earth personality of a true tomboy while still epitomizing what it means to be a real woman.

Do you ever look for a man to save you? Definitely not, the time I would spend doing that could be the time I use saving myself.

If you were a super hero what power would you have? This is such a tough question to answer when there are soooo many great superpowers, but I would have to say I would love the ability to read minds but I would need to be able to control that completely because when I really think about it, there are just some things I really don’t need to know.

Would your super hero costume be sexy or conservative? In between, nothing too revealing but also nothing too restrictive that would prevent me from kicking crime’s butt. Oh and definitely no capes, that’s a deal breaker.

What would your weakness be? All spiders, except for Spiderman.

Would you date a villain? I guess I would if he was just as sweet, funny, and amazingly amazing as the super hero but we would most likely bump heads from time to time…just like in any other “normal” relationship.

Any hidden talents? I play three three-inch instruments: the piano, guitar, and the clarinet. I speak a little Japanese and also my ability to make people laugh, would you believe that only a few people know that I’m funny?!

What about you is different when you’re in the city as compared to when you’re in Oswego? I want to say that being in Oswego gives me more confidence and makes me want to do more when I get to New York City when it comes to doing more for myself and my career. Probably because there is more to do in the city and Oswego just motivates me to really enjoy my “home-time.”

If you could guest star on any TV show what would it be and why? Definitely True Blood. I have a huge appreciation for the fantasy world and being on the show would allow me to feel as if it’s real even if it is only for a little while because sometimes the fantasy world just seems more fun and interesting than the real world.

Kaitlin Provost graduated from SUNY Oswego, majoring in journalism with a learning agreement in photography. She grew up in five different towns all over the Northeast, eventually settling and graduating from high school in Hudson, Massachusetts. Kait now lives in the blustery town of Oswego, New York, where she can frequently be found running around like a madwoman, avoiding snow drifts taller than her head (which, incidentally, is not very tall). She has worked for her campus newspaper, The Oswegonian, as the Assistant News Editor, and is also the President of the Oswego chapter of Ed2010, a national organization which helps students break into the magazine industry. She hopes to one day work for National Geographic and travel the world.
