Courtney Hadjeasgari

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Courtney Hadjeasgari is one of a kind. She is a sophomore at Oswego State studying Psychology, but outside of class is where Courtney really thrives. You may see this week’s campus celebrity participating in The Rail Jam, the SAVE Walk, working a the fitness centers, or hanging out the Indie Series concerts.

Courtney has volunteered for several Habitat for Humanity programs through Oswego State as well as through the Albany H4H program. She has volunteered in Georigia, Cordele, and this summer she will be going to South Caroline. Last week, Courtney was inducted into PSI CHI, the international honor society in psychology.

“We’ve had bake sales, helped with blood drive, and have a planned campus clean up on Sunday,” Courtney said.

This sophomore, psychology major from Hamburg, NY has made her college career more than just classes. Since she was a freshman, Courtney has worked as a peer educator for the Lifestyles Center where she educated her peers on alcohol, drugs, general wellness, sexual health and violence prevention.

If you’ve ever read Toilet Talk, Courtney is one of many who contribute to writing the weekly newsletter. She also helps with Street Team, which is in charge of advertisement, spray chalking the campus sidewalks with news and events, making the huge billboard poster boards with wheat paste, and hanging them around campus. Giving out stickers, buttons and information promoting after dark events.

This summer, Courtney will be spending the summer working with her professor, Dr. Dykas as a research assistant. She will be helping him with research gathering, performing studies and data collection.

“My favorite thing is all the things the campus has to offer,” Courtney said. “There’s always a lot to do and see.”

Courtney is pleased with her college choice and happy to be spending 4-years in place she truly has made her own. She loves the lakes, the sunsets and the friends she has made. If you have any questions about getting involved, Courtney is the yellow pages for student involvement.

I am from a small town outside of Syracuse, New York. In high school, I ran Cross Country and track where I competed in the 100m hurdles, 4x1, 200m and many other events. I now attend SUNY Oswego and I am majoring in journalism and anthropology. I have recently added a minor in health science because of my passion for health and fitness. Last semester, I wrote a health and fitness blog for Her Campus Oswego. I currently work as a personal trainer on campus. I love readings, writing, skiing, running, and I am a major shop-aholic! KM <3
