Anthony HillBy February 22, 2013 - 7:03pm Reporting and hosting “‘TOP in the Morning” for WTOP, a two-time Laker Leader and a resident assistant in Onondaga Hall, Anthony Hill is no stranger on Oswego’s campus. A double major in journalism and political science, junior Anthony Hill has made his face well known both on and off campus. Just recently Anthony gained celebrity status by making the trip to Albany for SUNY Day. SUNY Day gives SUNY colleges the chance to lobby for state legislative. Basically, SUNY Day is our chance to say, “Don’t forget to fund SUNY, when it comes to budget time,” Anthony says. READ MORE |

Whether you remember all of the details, or just specifics, you’re bound to remember the Laker Leaders that guided you from session to session. This year, three lucky ladies will be forever known as “captain” to the new selection of Laker Leaders. Sophomore meteorology major Molly Matott landed the job after only one year of being a Laker Leader. Chelsey ThompsonBy December 8, 2012 - 4:28pm Chelsey Thompson, junior, is a member of Enactus (formally known as SIFE), which is a business group on campus. Enactus stands for entrepreneurial, action, us. It is an organization that has students go around the community and use business concepts to help out. During the spring semester, a group of Enactus students go to a competition to show how their team has affected the community positively. There are flyers for the group all over Rich Hall. “I joined Enactus because I wanted to get more involved on campus and it looks good on your resume. Fathama Ahmed: The Adventurous TypeBy November 29, 2012 - 2:56pm Fathama Ahmed is a junior wellness management major with a minor in athletic coaching. In the beginning of her spring sophomore year semester, Ahmed started Oswego's running club. Ahmed went straight to The Point to discuss a possible running club at Oswego. “I wanted to start a non-competitive running team. I knew a lot of people who wanted to run so we formed a chill group of people to meet up and run,” says Ahmed. Ahmed started off with just a few members who actually made the commitment to daily runs on and off campus. With the start of Ahmed’s junior semester the club had 25 committed members. Runs go from 3-5 miles and to cycling classes at the gyms around campus. Ahmed enjoys runs on her own, to as far as the local Wal-Mart and Rice Creek Field.... |

Andrew KatzBy November 3, 2012 - 7:56pm Andrew Katz, former Oswego student and cinema studies major with a minor in creative writing, is now a successful photographer at Lifetouch National School Studio. "I take all the school pictures in the Rochester area," he says. Katz enjoys his line of work and says his favorite part is the people he works with. "I found the job on Craigslist, interestingly enough," he says. "They are a billion dollar company." Katz adds that he does sometimes get frustrated working with children on a daily basis, taking photos of them. "The preschoolers are cute but when you get to city schools they tend to act out," he says. To combat this, Katz says if he ignores their comments, they take it more seriously and stop acting out. You’re probably thinking we’re describing Carmen Sandiego, the daughter of Indiana Jones or Mother Teresa. Think again; this adventurous gal’ can be found in your own backyard. Katie Sullivan of Westchester, N.Y., is a SUNY Oswego Junior with a resume that would make any employer croon. This junior math and psychology major found her niche at Oswego through Habitat for Humanity. Sullivan is currently the president of the club. READ MORE |
