Micaela Parker

Micaela Parker is one of the many students who graduate early from college. She graduated from Oswego a year early. “I really felt that I was ready to graduate given all of my ‘experience’ in my major, plus, my girlfriend (now fiancée) had graduated last year, and I wanted to get my life going,” she says. While attending Oswego, Micaela participated in the Fencing Club and Pride Alliance, but once classes started giving more work, she had to stop. She was part of the Oswegonian until she graduated, which was good experience for a journalism major. READ MORE

Professor Linda Loomis

“I have a friend who says, ‘Linda can’t know anything without teaching it to somebody else.’” For the last 20 years at SUNY Oswego, Linda Loomis has dedicated her time to her students, showering them with knowledge of creative writing, journalism and English. Kaitlyn Welden is a senior public relations major with a concentration in journalism at SUNY Oswego. She is very involved around campus. You might be able to see her working in Pathfinder dining hall. If so, stop by and say hi! Kaitlyn enjoys working in the dining hall. “The managers are great and my co-workers are awesome! By far the best dining hall ever!” Plus, working in the dining hall also gives her some extra cash. She is also a member of Alpha Sigma Chi, after pledging sophomore year. The sorority does a lot of community service events, like Relay for Life and March of Dimes. “It’s always great to hang out with the girls. We always have tons of fun together.” READ MORE

Courtney Collins

Sophomore Courtney Collins is co-captain of the Oswego State women’s field hockey team. She has been playing the sport since seventh grade and couldn’t imagine stopping after high school. Her sister, Kelly, played at Oswego as well. “To this day I am so happy with my decision to come here and play field hockey. I have met some great people and have played some great games and have an excellent coach!”  One of the reasons Courtney came to Oswego was so she could play field hockey with her sister. They never played on the same team before and wanted to before Kelly graduated. Her mom also attended school here. While visiting Kelly, Courtney fell in love with the school. READ MORE

Brittany Sperino Horsford

Junior Brittany Sperino Horsford is one busy girl. She’s a member PRSSA (Public Relations Society of America) and the web editor and head nonfiction writer for the Oswego literary magazine, the Great Lake Review (GLR). Both clubs appealed to Brittany because they’re related to her two majors, creative writing and public relations. For the GLR, she does a lot of social media management and makes fliers. For PRSSA, Brittany participates in fundraisers. There is a dodgeball game on Sunday and the proceeds will go to the Red Cross. READ MORE

Ayana Rivera

Ayana Rivera, a junior at SUNY Oswego has a knack for juggling responsibilities. Not only is she a marketing major and the vice president of the women's rugby team, but if you turn on WTOP, she is one of the stars of on the hit show "Two Girls, One Desk." How does she manage the workload? "I take as many naps as I can and stay up most of the night." Hailing from the Bronx, Ayana has a great reason for ending up so far from home. "My aunt went here when she was younger, so I checked out the school. The second I saw the lake and campus, I fell in love. It was so beautiful. I still think that, too, even with all the snow." Jeanne Marie Pungello is one busy girl. You probably haven’t seen her in awhile because she’s studying abroad in London. “I've always been interested in traveling and the opportunity was just too golden to ignore,” she says on her decision to study abroad. Since she has been to London, the junior has tried to look at the lesser-known parts of the city. She has seen bigger sights like Big Ben, Parliament and the Eye as well. France and the Netherlands are other countries that Jeanne has visited since studying abroad. READ MORE

Brooke Radley

Brooke Radley is one of the catchers for the Oswego State softball team. After beginning when she was five years old, Brooke has loved the sport and couldn’t imagine being without it. “I watched my dad play slow pitch and liked it, so he created little league for softball in my town and he was my coach.” Before joining the Oswego State team, Brooke played two years of softball at Tompkins Cortland Community College. “I was fortunate enough to be recruited and presented with the opportunity to continue my athletic career, I loved the game too much to stop playing,” she says. Interested in finding new clubs at SUNY Oswego? One of the newest clubs at school is the fishing club. Freshman Derek Sexton is currently the secretary for the club, with freshman Josh Collette as the president, senior Dan Eggert as the vice president and junior Andrew Graff as the treasurer. Derek says that Josh and Dan did the work with Student Association to begin the club. The club was started to “promote the sport of fishing and to get people active in the sport while teaching new skills to those who may not be avid anglers, such as me,” Derek says. READ MORE
