Guilty PleasuresBy January 29, 2012 - 7:04pm It’s currently the first weekend after our first week of classes back here in Oswego, and I am sitting in my sweatpants, listening to Amy Winehouse croon from my record player while pouring over childrens books. What? Guilty pleasures don’t always have to be self destructive or involve “Mob Wives." In my personal opinion, guilty pleasures are one of the greatest things in the world, and I feel that if we indulged in them more often we would lead much happier and productive lives. After I’m done writing this, I’m probably going to watch Annie Hall for the third time this week (in my defense, I’m PMSing hard core right now). READ MORE |

It’s time to say good-bye to your BFFs, and wish your friends that are graduating good luck in the real world, and begin to wonder if you’ll ever see them again. But before all of that starts, I figured I would end this semester the same way I started. Here, is one of my crazy lists: The Best/Craziest/Greatest Things I Did This Semester READ MORE |

Going On A Real DateBy December 10, 2011 - 2:19pm Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about dating. More than I usually do. Probably because I haven’t gone on a real date in [insert measure of time here] and its finals week and I’m trying to procrastinate as much as possible. So it got me wondering about the whole dating thing, and the rules that go along with it. Now, us ladies live in a post-Sex & the City society, where women are encouraged to go out and get what they want in every way, shape and form. Go out and create successful careers, go out and have fun with their giiiirlllfriends, and go out and get who they want, when they want. It has become more acceptable for women to make the first move- let it be a glance across a party, starting the conversation at the bar, or kissing him on the mouth.... |

Sexy or Sexist? Embracing Your BeautyBy November 10, 2011 - 3:47pm I am a product of the 21st Century. I am currently a college undergraduate, pursuing a Bachelors degree in Political Science and Global Studies. I listen to NPR on a daily basis, and read the news frequently. I hate being treated like an idiot. I hate that when I walk into a room full of the opposite sex, it is automatically assumed that I don’t know anything about anything. However, I don’t understand how other girls, with similar attitudes as I- don’t want to be called “sexy.” Today in my English class, we read a poem by Pablo Neruda called “Body of a Woman.” And the title says it all: READ MORE |

Health and Fitness: Self-AcceptanceBy November 10, 2011 - 2:50pm I’ve decided to take a break from workouts and fitness centers. This week, I want to talk about self-confidence, self-beauty, self-respect, and self-acceptance. To be healthy, you need to have a healthy relationship with yourself. I was inspired to write about this topic from an event I attended today. There was poet who spoke about Cosmopolitan girls, those girls in a magazine that we all try to compare ourselves to. We all do, even males; we compare ourselves to the Barbie who sits in front of us in broadcasting or that dude in the gym with huge biceps. READ MORE |
