Americorps at the Oswego LibraryBy September 9, 2012 - 9:23pm This summer I spent time serving Americorps at the Oswego Library, and it was truly a life changing experience. After working with over 400 members of Oswego’s Youth, and assisting with the execution of a phenomenal summer reading program, it is safe for me to say I am a changed young lady. READ MORE |

Love, Etc.: What to do When You’re “Exhausted”By September 5, 2012 - 4:42pm Last Sunday morning I found myself lying face-down on my friend’s porch ready to scream. Weird, but it made sense: I was with three of my best girlfriends and we were talking (ahem, complaining) about, what else? Boys. While I listened to my friends go back and forth about their defeats in the dating world, I thought about this one line from a song that has become all-too-relevant in our lives: “…this is exhausting” READ MORE |

The Freshman StereotypeBy August 31, 2012 - 2:55pm It’s safe to say that basically everything annoys me. From people dragging their feet on the floor, to men riding women’s bikes - it all sort of irritates me. But I’m not a big complainer (unless you want to talk about “The Artist” or “Tree of Life”) so I keep most of my annoyances to myself. Bu there is one thing that I have to get out there to you all. And it’s to leave freshman alone. READ MORE |

Alternate Ending To Love: How Titanic 3D Can Change Your OutlookBy May 12, 2012 - 7:38pm Out of all the ridiculous things I have done this semester, my proudest moment is probably when I went to go see Titanic 3D on a Saturday afternoon. Alone. I had wanted to see the movie since I found out about its re-release last year, however, since most of the people I hang out with have a penis I was having a very difficult time finding someone to come with me. Now, I’m no stranger to going to movies alone. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things to do. In this particular circumstance, I totally should have just waited for someone to break down and go with me. READ MORE |

Bad NewsBy May 5, 2012 - 9:41pm your mom, or older sister, or some fantastic female figure in your life probably told you something right around the time you lost your virginity. In so many words, they passed this great little nugget of advice on to you: “Don’t have sex on the first date” And you either took this advice to the grave, or you totally disregarded it because Carrie and Samantha don’t abide by that rule and you’re totally not a Charlotte. I (unfortunately) am a part of the latter. And I always tell myself, after… you know, it happens that I’m never going to do that again. And then I do it again. And again. And maybe like, one more time? READ MORE |

Finals Week: will it ever end?By April 24, 2012 - 8:45pm It’s almost finals week, and I’m sitting here at my lap top surrounded by books, articles and highlighters. And all I want is to go out into the sun with my shoes off and laugh about something ridiculous. But more importantly, I want to give you something fun to read to get your mind off of all this finals bulls***. And I can’t. I’m currently doing research for a policy paper on textbooks in Palestine, and on Monday I have to start/finish my paper for my seminar on social media and revolutions. And after that, I have to work on a paper on neo-colonization and the Hollywood. Could my academic life be more depressing? READ MORE |

Londonopolis: Adios, Madrid.By April 22, 2012 - 7:59pm I’ve just returned from a crazy couple of weeks traveling. I loved every new place I saw, and really enjoyed meeting some fabulous people along the way. I thought I’d tell you guys a little about Madrid, where I spent four days with a fellow Oswego collegiette™, Jenna Schifferle. She lives just outside the city in a beautiful house with a very nice host family. READ MORE |

Sing It Out loudBy April 14, 2012 - 5:32pm You know that song that comes on the radio and you just have to turn the volume up and you roll your windows down even if it’s like, mid-December and you sing at the top of your lungs? If you know me outside of these random rants, you have probably been around for 434,567 of these moments. If not more. Since my childhood my brother has made fun of me, and told me to shut up or even resorted to jokes at my expense: ME: *singing excitidely* BROTHER: Hey Chel, who sings this song? ME: Oh! Well, it’s The Beach Boys. It’s from their- BROTHER: Well, let THEM sing it. Ha ha. Cute. READ MORE |

Love Movies: Hater or Lover?By April 7, 2012 - 4:44pm I know I write about love a lot. Love, relationships, sex, and marriage are all things that come to my mind pretty frequently. Mostly because I know relationships and love and sex and marriage are all common ground for us. Everyone has been in love, wants to be in love, has been in a relationship or has daydreamed about marriage. Or possibly had nightmares involving all of the above. READ MORE |

Londonopolis: The Last Few WeeksBy April 4, 2012 - 2:35pm Hello! I know it's been a really long time since I've updated you all on my adventures abroad - and for that I am so sorry! I had my last official classes, lots of papers to work on, and now I'm in the midst of my European travels. So very busy! I spent a weekend in Dublin with a girl I've been writing to since I was seven. I'll explain more when I have a chance to do the story justice. READ MORE |
