Selena Quintanilla took the world by storm in the late eighties and mid-nineties as a feminine powerhouse, who all women — Latina or not — could look up to. With her amazing voice and lyrics, beauty, strong values, kind spirit, entrepreneurial skills and passion for fashion, Selena was a force to be reckoned with until her life was tragically ended in 1995. Regardless of this, her spirit and legacy has continued to resonate in the lives of millions of people, and her most recent endeavor is certainly proof of this.
In February of 2015, a petition geared toward MAC Cosmetics titled “To release a “Selena Quintanilla for MAC” limited edition collection #SelenaQuintanillaForMAC” hit Change.org and received 37,768 signatures — a number that ended up being big enough to get the attention of the attention of the cosmetic giant. It was July of 2015 when MAC finally responded to petition, releasing a little “teaser” on their Instagram page that featured the words “MAC + Selena Quintanilla coming 2016.”
Well, the time has finally come! Selena’s limited edition MAC collection will be released on October 6th in-stores and on their website. The collection features a variety of products (with witty, Selena-related names) ranging from brushes and blushes, to lipsticks and lipgloss.
