Anyone who knows me knows that I love lipstick. It can be hard to pick a color, and the right color for that matter, with so many different brands and shades out there. I posed the question of go-to lipstick colors to the ladies of Ohio State’s campus and have compiled them all here to give you some inspiration the next time you are looking to add some color to your lips.
MAC Cosmetics was a very popular brand that was thrown out by the girls on campus. The lipsticks are some of the most popular in the market because the vibrant colors and how nicely the go on, and stay on for that matter. The bombshell red by the name of Ruby Woo (their best seller) and the berry shades of Rebel were the two most popular colors thrown out by the girls. For those of you who prefer a darker shade, my favorites are Verve and Cyber, which are perfect for the fall and winter.
Knowing which brands to buy at the drugstores can always be hard. With so many different ones, it can be quite the headache. Luckily for you, I am here to help make that trip a little easier. Some favorites of our campus girls were the Maybelliene Color Sensational line, which I completely agree with those shades, they are amazing (check out Brazen Berry for a great purple). Another popular subject was the Covergirl Lip Perfection Perfect Lip Balm (that’s a tongue twister) for those girls who like more of a stain then a full on lipstick.
If you find yourself wandering through the department stores or down the aisles of Sephora, there are some noteworthy shades that you will want to check out. The Bite Lip Crayon in Pomegranate was so popular that I need to go and check it out myself! YSL’s Forbidden Burgundy and Burberry’s Velvet Oxblood are good for those who want a rich and luxurious dark lip and anything from Bobbi Brown’s line is perfect. If you are looking for long wear, I would buy any of the Stila Liquid Lipsticks, especially the colors Beso and Fiery. My mom and I swear by this product and I have gotten my roommates obsessed as well. The color is so vibrant and lasts all day with little to no smear and a fantastic matte finish.
Now that you have all the basics, go out and find that shade that makes you feel amazing and pucker up.
