Good Covers of Popular Songs (via YouTube)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

Artists such as Justin Bieber and Austin Mahone found fame through YouTube. They traded in their normal lives for stardom by uploading their covers of popular songs and getting noticed. They gained a fanbase and launched their careers from taking a chance and putting themselves out there. Anyone with a recording device can use YouTube as a platform to show the world their talent. One way that amateur musicians can express their musical talent is by covering hit songs we already love. Some of these are so good that we don’t know if we like the original or the cover better!

Megan Nicole and Lindsay Stirling get bonus points for their unique and creative video. And wait, is that an electric violin?

Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider slowed down Britney’s dance hit “Hold It Against Me.” They could serenade us any day!

Madilyn Bailey raps (and pulls it off) on her acoustic cover of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop.”

Dave Days and Alex G turned Justin Bieber’s “Beauty And A Beat” into an adorable duet.

One of YouTube’s most popular cover artists, Christina Grimmie, shows off her pipes on her cover of David Guetta and Sia’s “Titanium.”

Eli Lieb is a huge fan of Miley’s “Wrecking Ball” and wanted to try “a really stripped down version” of it. We think he did a great job!
