Artists Making Tour Stops in Columbus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

Finally! Summer is right around the corner. Don’t have any stellar plans? Give yourself something to look forward to by snagging some concert tickets. There are some great artists touring and making stops in Columbus. Tickets are releasing now for many of the must-see concerts of the summer!

Here are some of the acts making stops here in Buckeye Country in May and June of this year…

The 1975

May 5th at LC Pavillion

Openers: Bad Suns and Sir Sly

If you are staying in Columbus, this is a great way to kick off the summer. You will get to hear those fabulous UK accents live! Listen for their hit, Chocolate, and many of the other great songs from their self-titled album.

Spring Beats Music Festival

May 10th at LC Pavillion

Acts include: Headliner Austin Mahone supported by Timeflies, MKTO, Alex Angelo, Spencer Sutherland, and Columbus natives New Hollow.

I would go to this one solely to hear Classic by MKTO. Or to see Austin Mahone’s dance moves. Either way, this lineup of young, fresh artists is sure to entertain.

R5

May 28th at Newport Music Hall

Opener: not yet announced

I realize that this band has a younger following, considering lead singer Ross Lynch is a Disney Channel star, but hear me out. The Lynch siblings and drummer friend know how to perform. These people are genuine, seriously talented, and their songs are really catchy. Check out their hit, Loud and tell me it didn’t make you smile.

CHVRCHES

June 10th at LC Pavillion

Opener: not yet announced

No matter how you spell it, or what you call them (electronic, synthpop, electro-pop, etc.)  CHVRCHES makes some cool music. The multi-talented trio is coming all the way from Scotland to Columbus. Any synth-lover is sure to appreciate their single, The Mother We Share, or any song they might play.

Fifth Harmony

June 29th LC Pavillion

Openers: Before you Exit and Jackson Harris

I was very impressed with Fifth Harmony when I saw them open for Demi Lovato. Formed on X factor USA, all five of these girls have some serious vocal talent. They are known for their hit Miss Movin On. Long live the girl band!

Neon Trees

June 30th at Newport Music Hall

Openers: Smallpools and Nightmare and the Cat

Many of us had the pleasure of seeing Smallpools at a RHAC benefit concert. They are sure to make you smile, just listen to their hit, Dreaming.

Utah-born Neon Trees gained popularity for their catchy songs by opening for huge bands such as The Killers and Muse. Now their headlining tour is a must, to hear hits such as Animal and Everybody Talks. If that isn’t enough, lead singer Tyler Glenn is sure to entertain with his eccentric outfits and great stage presence.

Happy concert going everyone!
