Have you ever noticed that once the sun comes out, country music seems to be the go-to playlist? It might be the upbeat twang that reflects the nice weather or it might be the absolutely attractive country singers like Brad Paisley that keep us girls asking for more!
The southern culture associated with country music simply encourages daisy-duke outfits that are best suited only under the hot summer sun. You can never go wrong with a plaid shirt and short-shorts. Also, let’s not forget that cowboy hat! The only appropriate season you can wear any of these cowgirl inspired outfits is when the weather permits. No cowboy hats would survive in the Oregonian rain!
Maybe one of country music’s appeals is that it’s so tangible. Rambling about love, sunshine, old blue jeans, dirt roads and trucks, country music provides a peace of mind. It easily resonates with listeners as it reminds us of the good times, glorified vacations and summer flings. I don’t know any other genre that praises America better than country. Fourth of July celebrations would not be the same if Martina McBride’s “Independence Day” song didn’t exist. Life without country music would be a disgrace because country simply creates memories.
Country music brings about this cowgirl-wannabe vibe. It’s the social cue that summertime is just around the corner. Instead of preparing for that bikini-ready-bod, maybe we should be striving for that country music lovin’ cowgirl bod.
For me, country is my number one playlist all day, every day. This summer, I can only hope that “I’m somewhere, somewhere sunny and 75” (“Sunny and 75” by Joe Nichols).
