This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Every Sunday night, when I would be mentally preparing for the week ahead by jotting down all my commitments for the week in my overly detailed planner, I added a goal to the top of the page.

For 10 weeks straight, I successfully created a goal and accomplished it at least once during the week.

To share with you how I did this, I outlined each week’s goal exactly how I wrote it in my planner and added a little tidbit of how I applied it that week.

Week 1: Get organized for the term and eat more veggies

  • Application: I wrote out each reading assignment, scheduling, etc. in my planner for the whole term. I got my veggie intake up by drinking green juices because they are easy to have as a snack on busy days.

Week 2: Get clearer skin

  • Application: I stopped eating excessive amounts of chocolate and bought a fancy charcoal face wash.

Week 3: Take a chill pill without my phone, have me-time everyday

  • Application: Before bed, I mediated instead of scrolling through my social media newsfeeds.

Week 4: Take care of my health and get shit done

  • Quote of the week: “Only seek to be more of yourself.”
  • Application: I was mindful of what foods I was eating and how they effected my energy levels and mood.

Week 5: Don’t let stupid shit distract you from the important things in life and GET SHIT DONE!

  • Application: I was caught up on a stupid boy this week and held back from being distracted by his presence in my life.

Week 6: Be present! Love more! xoxo

  • Application: It was the week of Valentine’s Day so I gave extra appreciation to my loved ones in small ways.

Week 7: Be supportive

  • Application: I knew that one of my friends was going to have a rough week, so I spent extra time with her to be supportive of what was happening in her life.

Week 8: Write down a moment from each day that made me laugh

  • Application: Some kids at my work said, “I can’t believe one day we get to have babies!!!!”… they are 5 years old, and it was the most precious thing.

Week 9: Bee happy (insert my drawing of a bee) and productive

  • Quote of the week: “There is pleasure in the pathless woods.”
  • Application: I actually applied the quote more than the goal this week. I was embarking on a new journey which required me to go with the flow. This quote also reminded me of the importance of living in the moment and not necessarily thinking about the outcome.

Week 10: Make others smile but don’t forget about my own happiness

  • Quote of the week: “The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you.”
  • Application: I was there for my friends when they needed me the most. However, I also let myself open up to someone new for my own happiness.

All in all, this is a regimen I hope to keep up for the rest of the year because it truly worked for me. I was able to keep most of these goals in tact throughout the rest of the term.

Stay tuned for my end of spring term list of goals!
