Movies to Watch During Thanksgiving Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Thanksgiving break is coming up and what better way to spend it than taking a relaxing day at the movie theater? The holiday season always results in a mass release of top notch films, so here is a list of some movies that you must see over the break.

1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 18)

The world of Harry Potter continues to live on with this film, a prequal to the original Harry Potter films, set in New York City seventy years before the golden trio hit Hogwarts. Follow the adventures of wizard Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his bried case full of magical beasts.

2. The Edge of Seventeen (November 18)

Nadine (Hailee Steinfield) struggles with the unbearable life of a high school girl, and matters only get worse when her best friend, Krista, begins dating her very popular twin brother. The heart warming and funny coming of age story is the perfect movie to watch after stuffing yourself with Thanksgiving leftovers.

3. Nocturnal Animals (November 18)

Susan Morrow (Amy Adams) receives a novel written by her ex-husband (Jake Gyllenhaal), which tells a romantic story that serves as a metaphor for their broken marriage. This movie is the perfect dramatic thriller that will not only keep you entertained by the storyline, but also by the beautiful Jake Gyllenhaal.

4. Moana (November 25)

Disney introduces a new princess with Moana ( Auli’i Cravalho), who embarks on a journey at sea with a new friend and demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson). This fun animated movie is not only a musical, but also allows you to escape to an island paradise instead of being in your rainy childhood home.
