Let’s Celebrate Princess Leia!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

I’d like to take the time to celebrate Carrie Fisher on her birthday, October 21st. Here are a few reminders why we love Carrie:

  1. The gold bikini made her a sex goddess If Ross Geller and Chandler Bing both agree that Princess Leia in the gold bikini is a sex fantasy, then it must be true. We solemnly thank you, Carrie. However, I’m still asking my single self, “Where’s my strong Skywalker?”
  2. She coined “You’re my only hope”  This includes your most desperate situations, like pleading your bff to save you from drunk texting your ex again saying, “You’re my only hope.”
  3. She introduced an iconic hairstyle ‘Tis the season of costume scrambling for Halloween—why not dress up as Princess Leia? Recreate Carrie’s cinnamon buns and you’ll be getting eyes rolling back right at’cha. In fact, you can even make it a group costume with your buddies by including the rest of the Star Wars cast.
  4. She is a Star Wars legendSince landing her Star Wars role at the age of 19, Carrie Fisher serves as a strong, independent woman inside and out. Her story hasn’t ended, as we look forward to the upcoming premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 14, 2017.

Happy birthday, Carrie Fisher! May the force be with you, always
