Not going to Cabo? Not staying at the UO? Then you’re probably on your way home for the ever-so-exciting spring break that’s coming up, and coming up fast. Whether you’re loving the idea of going home or absolutely dreading it, home is simply different than school. How do you survive? Read on!

1. Netflix. Lots of Netflix.

Need a break from the constant parent conversations? Can’t sleep because you’re stressed out about missing some amazing beaches? Sit down and watch some Netflix. An episode of Grey’s Anatomy literally any day simply so much better.

2. Avoid wearing those short-shorts and crop tops.

No need to start a huge complaint-fest from the family about your too small clothes. You definitely don’t need to go flaunting anything around your parents, and it’s so much easier to just not wear to avoid any crazy arguments over those slightly too skimpy skirts.

3. Chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

Need an instant vacation? Grab a chocolate bar. Any kind, but preferably dark chocolate cherry.

4. Avoid topics such as money, boys, and parties.

It’s not a good reason to start any awkward conversations — because you can pretty much just avoid it all together. Just talk about your nights in with your girls, and you’re good to go for those catch up coversations with your mom.

5. Simply think positive.

Feeling down about missing out on some pineapple-y, cherry-topped drinks? Just look on the bright side and think about all the good things about being at home. #homecookedmeals

6. Stay on the good side of any siblings.

Got little siblings? Older ones who are home too? Stay on their good side. A sibling fight is the last thing your parents want. Plus when it comes down to it, your siblings are literally the best ever. So why fight?

7. Don’t constantly go on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and all the rest of those social media.

Honestly, looking at all those beach photos and fruity drinks won’t make you feel any better, they’ll just make all that wishing-you-were-somewhere-warm even worse. Just live in the now!

8. Talk up the good grades, leave out the bad ones.

Just another topic that doesn’t have to be crossed. Stick to talking about those great grades and amazing classes, and avoid the arguments completely.

9. Sleep. Sleep a bunch.

Not out at a party? Perfect! Sleep, and sleep some more. It’s the best time to get some good sleep in before the next term, and will just make you feel so much better, in so many ways!

10. Learn something new.

You’ve got so much time on your hands most likely, so put it to use! Learn to sew, bake a cake, or pick up that hobby you always wanted to try.

11. Finally, enjoy yourself.

Sure, you might be missing out on some amazing outings or swimming in the Pacific. But hey, you’re having your own relaxing, wonderful time, too. Just take it in, enjoy your loving parents, siblings, and pets and just relax. Because honestly either way, it’s spring break, baby!
