Five Fall Favorites: 2012 Fall Fashion Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

The rain is starting come down, which means it’s officially fall! Autumn marks a great time to take out cold weather accessories like, scarves, mittens, leg warmers and more! However the fall season also marks the end of summer trends! Check out what five items will be trending this fall!

The Ankle Boot
Yes, boots have always been an autumn favorite, but this year it’s time to take it to a shorter level! Everyone has rocked the mid length, and even the knee length boot. This year it’s time to change it up with an edgier look. Ankle boots go great with absolutely everything, from skinny jeans, to skirts and tights! Wear them as much as possible to give them a “worn in look”, which is perfect for a rainy day.

The “Nubby” Cardigan
Other fall favorites are cardigans! This year try a “nubby” cardigan. It’s thicker than other cardigans, which means it will keep you warm, and it goes with just about anything! The nubby cardigan is great for a night out for dinner or just a cozy look around campus. Try this look with the ankle boot shown above, and a neutral flannel.

Contrast sleeve moto-jacket:
Leather jackets have always been a popular choice during the cold seasons. This year it’s time to change it up with the contrast sleeve moto jacket. It gives your fall look a bit of an edge, but you can soften it up with a basic scarf!

Cashmere Sweater:
Nothing will help you adjust to the cooler weather than a cashmere pullover sweater! Solid, bright colors will add some boldness to this simple look. It’s such a comfortable top, and it has enough room to wear your favorite blouses underneath!

Cropped Black Trousers:
These pants are probably the most versatile article of clothing on our list! It will remain a staple for the fall season and beyond. These pants will help to show case ankle boots, pumps, flats, oxfords, and
much more. Cropped trousers will accentuate your legs, and are undeniably comfortable!
